Background

Residents
in Naperville, Illinois, decided to hold a community-wide
celebration to usher in the new millennium. Planning
began in 1997 for the three-day event, known as “Celebration
2000.”
Challenges

Because
this was to be a family-friendly community celebration,
many volunteers were needed to plan and supervise activities.
Sponsors were also needed to help pay for the event
so most of the activities could be attended free of
charge.
